History of Land Of Bessarabia Winery

History of Land Of Bessarabia Winery

The GANEA winery was founded in 1865 and used to be called August Bauer, after its founder name, a native of Germany. August and his sons moved to Bessarabia and invested all their family capital in grape growing and wine production. After World War I, the family emigrated, the winery had several owners, and after the collapse of the Soviet Union, it was completely abandoned.

In 2015, the Ganea family decided to restore and develop the family traditions of winemaking. Thus the winery was reborn. Presently, Ganea Vineyards is known worldwide for the Land Of Basarabia wine brand, recognized by the Michelin guide.
