The soil is brown with a thick clay layer, covering limestone hills, mild winters and hot summers. The wines of Poiana are made from grapes carefully selected of internationally known varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer, Pinot Gris, Aligote, Muscat, but also of specific local varieties such as Feteasca Alba, Feteasca Neagra, Feteasca Regala, Tămâioasă. The estate has 23 hectares of own young vines and manages 23 hectares of Bordeaux varietals în Pirita, Dubasari. Bathed by the sun throughout the year, the grapes are filled with the best juice and character, easily sensed in the wine taste. The oldest vines were planted in 2003, while the most recent in May 2019. The harvest begins in late summer, for the white varieties. The grapes are hand picked when the sugar and acidity indicate maturity.
