Did you open the wine with a corkscrew or unscrew the bottle?

Did you open the wine with a corkscrew or unscrew the bottle?

Did you open the wine with a corkscrew or unscrew the bottle? It is about the material from which the cork is made. And your task at the same time is to buy good wine, maintaining the price / quality balance.
Let's see how a natural cork differs from a screw head.

The entire cork is made of a thin layer of oak bark. They start removing the bark from him at the age of 25. At the same time, the tree does not die, but is overloaded with new bark. This cork was first made four centuries ago. It does not deform from moisture, ensures tightness and allows the wine to achieve the potential for aging (if any, of course). On the downside: the cost of this cork is quite high, so only the top manufacturers can use it. Sometimes a "cork defect" awaits you: the characteristic smell of mold transmitted from the cork in the contents of the entire bottle of the substance trichloroanisole contained in the oak bark.

Screw head (so-called screw cap) is not inserted into the neck of the bottle, but is screwed on top. It was invented in France, but advanced Australians were the first to use it. It is made of aluminum alloy with a gasket made of synthetic material. The main advantage is the low price and the absolute absence of the risk of "cork disease". It is ideal for storing cheap and young wines, which should be sold in the next year or two. The spray cap reduces the cost of the final product and creates less problems for the manufacturer. And at the picnic you don't have to look for someone who has a corkscrew
